Boost Profits with Glitter DTF: Ideal for Custom Apparel Businesses

Glitter DTF is a specialty finish. Use it when the design needs to stand out visually — logos, accents, event-wear, limited drops.

  • Apparel brands releasing special or limited collections
  • Event and team-wear producers (cheer, dance, pageants)
  • Print shops upselling specialty finishes to clients
  • Etsy sellers with decorative apparel offerings
  • Embroidery shops adding sparkle to embellished garments
  • Resellers with customers who ask specifically for glitter finish

Specialty finish, not everyday

For standard apparel production, Custom DTF Gang Sheets are more cost-effective. Use Glitter when the sparkle finish is the point of the design.

Cold Peel Application for Glitter Finish

Glitter DTF uses cold peel release — press the transfer, then let it cool completely to room temperature before peeling. The slightly higher press temperature (310°F) and longer press time (10–15 seconds) fully activate the textured glitter layer; peeling cold locks in the sparkle detail and produces the cleanest edge.

  • Cold peel release — let the transfer cool completely (30–60 seconds) before peeling
  • Peeling at room temperature gives sharper glitter detail and cleaner edges
  • Press at 310°F (154°C), 10–15 seconds, Medium–Heavy pressure
  • Second pressing recommended for maximum durability
  • Teflon sheet recommended during pressing
  • Works on cotton, poly-blends, darks, and more

Compatible fabrics

Cotton, polyester, blends, tri-blends, leather, denim, nylon.

Not compatible with

Coated fabrics, highly elastic materials, rough textures, sublimated jerseys.

⚠ Important Production Notes

  • Press at 310°F (154°C), not 300°F — glitter DTF needs the extra heat to activate the textured layer.
  • Press time is 10–15 seconds, slightly longer than standard DTF.
  • This is a cold peel product — let the transfer cool completely (30–60 seconds) before peeling. Peeling warm will lift the glitter layer and ruin the finish.
  • Production turnaround is 24 hours Mon–Fri from order confirmation — weekends and holidays don't count.
  • Second pressing and a teflon sheet are recommended for maximum durability.
  • Glitter is not available for same-day production — if you need it today, choose Same Day DTF Gang Sheets instead.

Standard Apparel Production?

If the design doesn't call for a specialty finish, Custom DTF Gang Sheets deliver the same print quality without the premium.

Common Questions About Glitter DTF Transfers Answered

Does Glitter DTF use different press settings?

Yes. Press at 310°F (154°C) for 10–15 seconds at medium–heavy pressure. The higher temperature and longer window activate the glitter layer. Standard DTF presses at 300°F / 10–12s. Glitter DTF is also a cold peel— let the transfer cool completely (30–60 seconds) before peeling for the sharpest glitter detail and cleanest edge.

Can I get Glitter DTF with same-day turnaround?

No. Glitter runs on standard 24-hour production turnaround Mon–Fri. Guaranteed same-day production (with the 1 PM ET cutoff) is available only for Same Day DTF Gang Sheets and UV DTF.

How does glitter hold up to washing?

Glitter DTF is designed for durability on fabric. Second pressing is recommended to maximize wash performance. Wash garments inside out in cool water for best long-term results.

What fabrics work with glitter transfers?

Cotton, polyester, blends, tri-blends, leather, denim, and nylon. Not recommended for coated fabrics, highly elastic materials, rough textures, or sublimated jerseys.

When is glitter the right choice?

Use glitter when the sparkle finish is the point of the design — event-wear, special collections, dance/cheer uniforms, decorative accents. For standard everyday apparel, Custom DTF Gang Sheets are more cost-effective.

Will the glitter wash off or fade over time?

The glitter is embedded in the transfer layer, not loose glitter sitting on top — it won't flake or wash off with normal wear. With proper application (310°F, 10–15 seconds, medium–heavy pressure, second pressing) and inside-out cool-water washing, the sparkle holds through repeat wash cycles. Avoid high-heat drying, which is the main cause of premature fading on any heat-applied finish.

Does glitter feel rough or scratchy on the garment?

Glitter DTF has a textured finish — it's not as smooth as flat DTF because that texture is the whole point of the look. It isn't sharp or abrasive; it feels like a decorative finish similar to commercial glitter heat transfer vinyl. If you need a completely flat, soft hand-feel, choose Custom DTF Gang Sheets instead.
